Our OKU Middle School and High School students are curious, energetic, and eager for opportunities to connect with one another and try something new. Our new before-school Chess Club brings together students from different grade levels and experience levels—some already love chess, while others are learning the game for the very first time. What makes this group special is their willingness to learn, challenge themselves, and help one another improve. Chess gives students who may have different interests or social circles a common place to belong. Around the chessboard, they can build friendships, practice patience and good sportsmanship, and gain confidence with every game. I want our students to walk into school on Chess Club mornings excited to be there, knowing they have a welcoming place to think, play, laugh, learn, and start their day together. ♟️
