In an attempt to make mathematics real, I try and incorporate online exploration and programs to bring geometry to life. This isn't always easy with the school laptops we have that can take upwards of 15 minutes to get everyone logged in. Having a class computer will allow my students to see mathematics in action and research mathematics with ease and better technology that is efficient. Without the benefit of a computer at home, many students at the school I teach miss out on valuable opportunities. Computer literacy is critical in the working world, and many of my students struggle to do basic computer functions due to not having access to them. Through the use of a up-to-date computer in the room, students can become more accustomed to the importance of mathematics and may develop a real interest while developing skills for the real-world.
