My students need an inviting space to come together to listen to stories, dance to songs, and learn! This rug is perfect for helping my students to gather and form a circle-like seating for our morning meetings when we greet each other, read the morning message, share news, and sing songs. Circle Time is also an opportunity to solve problems that are affecting our class, for example too much talking during lessons, or someone being picked on. It also helps children work on these key skills: thinking, listening, looking, speaking and concentrating. Coming together as a group throughout the day has help the class grow as a community, such as: learning how to work together, socializing, and understanding other's thoughts and emotions. It is important that my students feel like they belong and they are part of the circle and the community. I want to create environment that my students will feel safe to be themselves, to make mistakes, and to openly express their own individuality. I want them to know that their voice matters; and they are special and loved. I want them to understand that in my classroom, we are a family-we support and respect one another.
