My school serves a low income, high poverty population that lacks for basic things we take for granted (coats, shoes, food, etc). Our school uses every bit of our budget to provide basic needs for our students like breakfast, lunch, and a snack as well as backpacks fill with school supplies. My students come from harsh home environments where they must put up walls to protect their hearts. It takes a while to break through their defenses and earn their trust. But once I do, their educational journey is one of the most rewarding experiences anyone can have. They are so eager to learn and please, I am often afraid of disappointing them. I promise them and myself I will give them nothing more then my very best every day. I strive to ensure that every student that leaves my room, believes they can do or be anything.
