I am a special education visual & performing arts teacher at a NYC public school, centered around the arts. My students are aged 7 to 10 years old, and have varying levels of special disabilities that affect the way they learn and interact with their environment every day. All of my students are in smaller classroom sizes, allowing for targeted, individualized instruction. Art class is a positive environment: It is a time where mistakes are encouraged, and appropriate forms of socio-emotional expression are at their peak. Although my students have special disabilities, their creative abilities are even more special!
