My music room is a place where community, creativity, and diversity are embraced and encouraged. It is imperative that every student who enters my room knows their voice matters, and that they are an essential member of our ensemble. We sing, we dance, we play instruments, we play games, we color, we create, and we celebrate all that music has brought to us and the world around us, with a little bit of "magic" sprinkled in along the way. Music is used as a stepping stone to explore the diverse and wonderful world around us, and to navigate and embrace the overwhelming emotions that come with growing up. This means that not every moment in our day may be about making music. You see, my primary goal as a teacher is not to train perfect musicians. Instead, I simply seek to give my students a safe place to express themselves, by sharing with them the happiness, joy, and peace that making music together can bring.
