I currently teach pre-advance placement English and AVID to an amazing group of students each year. My kids come from diverse backgrounds, and are often economically and socially disadvantaged. For many of my students English is not their first language, and they struggle to learn both the language and the curriculum/skill set necessary for them to master our state's exam in order to move on to the next grade and ultimately graduate. It is a challenge for most to have the basic school supplies necessary to help them be successful both in and out of the classroom. I want to provide school supplies for my hard-working students so that it is one less thing they have to worry about.

About my class
