Our school and classroom library has a limited number of novels available for students who are reading below a third grade level, and are still of high interest to students. To ensure that every child, regardless of reading level, finds a book to fall in love with, we utilize amazing websites that allow students to listen to and follow along with books that are interesting to them, while still practicing their reading comprehension strategies. Currently, students have been using these websites without headphones. While they love listening to the readings, it can get noisy and distracting with all of the books playing out loud at once. Headphones would provide every student with the opportunity to really get lost in their books and novels. My project focuses on getting high quality, engaging texts in the hands (and ears) of every student!
