A book allows its reader the opportunity to imagine, to dream, to travel without ever leaving the room. A book reveals different worlds; it opens the eyes of its companion and invites him or her on a wonderful journey that changes with every differing perspective of each diverse reader. My students deserve the chance to lose themselves in multiple books that capture their heart and resonate with their spirit. As a teacher in an under-resourced school district, I am not able to provide as much as I would like to for my students. These books would be added to our class library, which I hope will only grow. They would help my students participate in their independent reading program, which includes book discussions with fellow classmates, with excitement and confidence.
