I am requesting drawing paper, paintbrushes, no-spill paint cups, and tempera paint, in order for my students to be able to complete various art projects as part of a daily art-literacy center in my classroom. Students will be using the paint and supplies to illustrate their own short stories and narrative writing pieces, as well as complete various art-integrated projects for different subject areas. Students should be able to express themselves in many different ways. Painting is an important form of media that allows the artist to express him/herself in a way only true to them. In kindergarten, it's important for students to be able to illustrate a story, since they seldom learn to write until the end of the school year. These art supplies will provide my students with another form of media that will allow them to express their feelings, their experiences, and their views of the world as an individual.
