My students come from a diverse background and face many social and economic challenges in the community but all demonstrate a desire and love of reading. My school is a neighborhood school where 75% of the population are English language learners and receive free or reduced priced lunch. My kindergarten class is made up of 22 wonderful students who are eager to learn and who try so hard. Our community faces the challenges of not being able to provide the resources that allow students to have the appropriate amount of diverse reading level books in our classroom during reading time.
