Dissections allow students to have the knowledge that they have learned come to life. They are able to have a full laboratory experience when coming into contact with a real life brain...sheep brain that is. Having these skills will allow students to be better prepared for high school as well as a deeper understanding of the content we are learning. It is my goal to give the students a one of a kind experience dissecting as this is only done in minimal amount of classes. This will allow students to engage in the Science and Engineering Practices, but also offers them the opportunity to engage in content in a way that would otherwise not be possible. This sheep brain dissection would be the perfect way to close the unit that we spent learning about the brain and how concussions can/will effect it.
