My students live in a very low income community in which gang related criminal activity is common place. Their parents lack the means to expose their children to scientific inquiry. In addition, my students are English Learners who lack the ability to comprehend difficult scientific text on their own. With budget deficits in our district, it is difficult to come by educational materials. My school would not be able to provide my class with the materials I need for this experiment (polyurethane foam system and gloves).
