Most of the students enrolled in my classes come from hardworking immigrant families, and many do not speak English at home. It is heartbreaking to see how these extremely intelligent (often gifted) students can struggle to access higher-level literature. My classes are diverse in ability level as well as in ethnicity. Though most of the students in my classes are Latino, I do have African-American, Asian, and Caucasian students. One way to help all of my students excel is through providing books and digital media devices they can write in, interact with, and make into a friend. Our school is large, and is part of one of the largest cash-strapped school districts in the U.S. It is next to impossible for me to order the instructional materials I need to motivate 21st century learners. My students and I would really appreciate your help!
