My students are 9th–12th grade newcomers and second-year English Learners who live in National City, a vibrant community near the Tijuana border. They bring with them rich cultural and linguistic diversity, representing eight different home languages in our classroom. Many are adjusting to a new country, school system, and community while also balancing family responsibilities and the challenges of learning English. Despite these obstacles, they show incredible resilience, curiosity, and determination to succeed academically and socially. Their multilingual skills and unique perspectives make our classroom a powerful space for growth, collaboration, and cross-cultural understanding.

About my class
