Welcome to my page! My name is Safiya O'Connor and I am a 11 year veteran Teacher in Washington, DC. For some teaching is a "job" they fell into, but for me, teaching in low income areas is what I have been divinely called to do. My biggest goal each school year is for my scholars to leave my classroom with a deep desire to learn. I want them to see learning as fun and engaging whether we are observing the insides of pumpkins, making shapes on the geoboard, practicing our letter sounds with music and movement, or publishing stories about our lives. I currently teach in Ward 5; in one of the most underserved communities in the city. My scholars are determined and resilient learners. Your donations mean the world to us.
