I chose to request snacks for my students. Simply put, all of my students are from households far below the poverty line. Hungry is a constant battle in the classroom for many of my students, which has a major effect on their academic focus. "Ms. Denton, may I have some crackers?" I have this phrase asked more often throughout the day than any other question. My students are highly motivated by treats. Each day, students who earn their goal number of points on ClassDojo receive a treat. Also, each week, the ten students who have the most points in the class receive an even better treat on Mondays.
