Our students are from an inner-"bankrupt" city with the majority coming from non-English speaking homes. Our building will be transitioning from an all fifth grade school to an all Kindergarten school in 2012-2013. All Kindergarteners, district wide, will be housed in our school. Can you imagine the logistics? All desks, tables, chairs, shelves, etc are made for a 10 year old not a 5 year old! The library is being transformed into a "K-friendly" atmosphere where little ones can learn the importance of a reading and appreciating all types of literature. Currently I teach in three different schools and my 4 classes of kindergarteners LOVE story time! In their own classrooms there is a great rug where students can sit and listen to their favorite stories, but in their new library there is no rug, that is why I am asking for kind donations so that we can get a fun story time rug for our new school year. Thank you!
