My students are English Language Learners. They come from diverse backgrounds. There are over 20 languages spoken at our school site. My school is located in a major city and 74% of the students qualify for our free lunch program. Due to the lack of funding at our school site, the teachers at our school not only volunteer money for supplies but also their time. We are embarking on a new way of teachong students to become crticial thinkers. 95% of our staff was trained in the summer, non-paid, because we beliveve in our students and in this new program. We also have various after school programs for our students and parents to build a community of learners.
