Ready to Read!
Funded Mar 17, 2010Once again thank you for the books. They have been a wonderful addition to my classroom and the students have really enjoyed them. The books are perfect for them because they are at their reading level and they are about topics that interest them. Sometimes it is hard for me to get the students to put them away because they are enjoying the books so much!
The books have been a great resource and have come in very handy when I teach lessons. Since the books are nonfiction and have a broad range of topics (about their daily lives, animals, insects, how to make a mud pie, etc), it has been very meaningful for my students. We recently took a trip to the Central Park Zoo and having the nonfiction animal books really enriched our experience because we could dive deeper into understanding each animal.

Help Us Start The Year Off Right!
Funded Dec 4, 2009Thank you for taking time out of your day to donate supplies to a very deserving class. We really appreciate you donating supplies to our class, and adding to our resources. As a teacher I can't afford to buy a lot of supplemental resources for the classroom so I am really thankful you could help me and my students by further enriching our classroom.
The children love the supplies and they were so excited to try them out. So far the confetti glue is their favorite. They love using the "sparkle glue" on projects and during arts and crafts time. We recently used the confetti glue on a classroom friendship quilt. Students used the confetti glue on their individual square (of the quilt) and the confetti glue really enhanced the quilt making it sparkle and shine. The quilt turned out beautiful and the kids loved using the glue.

Communication is Key
Funded Nov 20, 2009I want to thank you all for taking the time to donate to this proposal. Having Boardmaker has been a wonderful addition to my classroom and has made such a huge impact on student learning. Differentiating for my students is now so easy and by having picture symbols make directions/concepts concrete, so all students can understand and be successful. In addition, it has made it so easy for me to make daily schedule cards to help make transitions smoother. Most importantly it has helped students communicate who have speech/ language delays. Now students can pick a picture symbol to express their wants/ needs if they don't have the vocabulary or speech skills.
My students have really enjoyed the activities that I have created with the Boardmaker picture symbols. I have been able to create activities across all subject areas in including storyboards in English language arts, measurement activities in math, tree activities in science, and I print off picture symbols of various animals for the students to create stories about. As my students grow and develop into readers I am exciting to create stories for them that are at their level using the Boardmaker program.
Once again I want to thank you for your generous donation. It is the best gift I have received for my classroom. Boardmaker is such an easy program to use. It has made my life easier and my activities far better. I don't have to sit for hours trying to find adequate images on the web, now with one easy click I have a clear images that are exactly what I want. Not only that, the images can be cropped to any size and can be pasted into any document making the possibilities endless. Thank you for enriching my classroom and making it a better place to learn and grow. ”

Read All About It!

The books have been a wonderful addition to our classroom. The students love looking through them and even more so when I read them aloud to the class. I love watching them get so excited about books and it makes me smile everytime they try to read along with me. So far Pattern Fish is their favorite. They try to act out the book as I read it and guess what pattern is coming next. The book has even inspired one of out math portfolio pieces which you can see in the pictures. It has been wonderful to see them so excited about reading and becoming active parts of the story.
Finally I hope you enjoy the pictures of my students. They have created a pattern out of fish and have drawn you a picture. Since this is a special education self contained classroom, their skills are limited, but they put in their best effort into the cards. Because of your generous gift I know my students will have the tools they need to build their skills and continue growing.”
