My project aims to give our busy students the fuel they need to engage within their classes and extracurricular activities. Giving students snacks when they come into my classroom sweetens the deal of engaging academically before school, on their lunch break, or after school. Through providing access to snacks, we can ensure our students are at optimal capacity for learning throughout the day. Snacks are an essential part of a growing adolescent’s diet, and many studies have shown that it is much more difficult to create a safe environment for youth when they are experiencing hunger. ​​ The snacks are also individually packaged so that we can continue to promote safe, food handling practices during these times.
