My intervention group uses the Read 180 & System 44 programs. These programs rely on an interactive software being used on a daily basis. Many of the headphones/microphones that we have are broken, which limits the productivity of these programs. Some headphones may work, but the microphones are broken which means they are unable to record their fluency passages. We spend a lot of class time trying to make sure students have all shared the minimal working equipment. This is time that could be spent using the software, reading independently, or working in small groups. Fluency is a huge factor in becoming a successful reader! These headphones/microphone sets will allow my students to grow their fluency by hearing a recording of their own voice read passages that are written in increasing complexity.
