My students cannot sit still but they shouldn't have to. They have a variety of disabilities that would benefit from being able to move and wobble on a balance cushion while learning. Students are given multiple opportunities to move while learning. We sing, dance, stretch, or exercise about every 8 minutes. But why does movement have to stop while we're sitting? While at our seats, sitting on the floor, or at the reading table we can get our move on with the cushions. The great thing about balance cushions is that they're portable. Students can take their cushions with them to the carpet, their seat at the reading table, and into Music and Art class.
