I currently have one desktop computer and one laptop in my classroom. My laptop is an old, re-imaged one that was passed down to me from another teacher. The special education department in my district does not get laptops like the general education teachers do. My principal graciously found my current laptop for me. While I so appreciate it, my classroom laptop is on it's last leg. It overheats quickly, makes rattling noises, takes a long time to boot up, does not work unless it's plugged up, and the volume goes in and out. My students love to participate in interactive lessons on my SmartBoard. However, with the current state of my laptop, we lose a lot of instructional time waiting for it to load. This causes my students to miss out on those fun, interactive games that they enjoy so much. These interactive lessons provide so many opportunities for my students, and its heartbreaking to not be able to provide them with those opportunities. Through the use of a working laptop with my SmartBoard, my students will be able to work on social interaction, fine motor skills, technology literacy, and overall academics. Please help us get a working laptop!
