They thought it was so cute and were excited to see it fill up. We use this jar as a class incentive. Whenever the entire class is following the rules, or working hard, the students are able to earn a star towards extra recess, play time, or being able to pick out a book for us to read. My students were also excited about our punch cards. As a school we do something similar, so for the students, being able to receive a dot every time they were caught doing the right thing allowed the students to build a sense of confidence and influence them to be more responsible and thoughtful in their choices. My next steps for these incentives are to motivate the students to keep doing the right thing and work hard as they learn. With the books, they allowed my students to learn important social skills. My students thought they were so cute and funny. Whether reading, math, or social studies, the anchor charts you have provided help to create examples of skills we are learning or problems we solve. Since these are the peel and stick kind, it allows the students to also see what we have done hung up around the classroom. We use our class white board as a way to keep up with our seat work, and to help the students, far away from the board, see an example of the assignments and concepts. The students were so excited about the tens frames. They loved the uniqueness of the counters and were so excited to use them during our math lessons. My future plan is to be able to continue using manipulatives such as our ten's frames and the boards in order to improve student learning and understanding of skills. It is portable so that learning can travel throughout the classroom.
