Last year my our school was able to purchase subscriptions to Scholastic News for all second grade students. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, this has been eliminated from the budget this year. However, that does not mean that my students do not have a need for these wonderful magazines. These magazines provide current even articles to my students written at a level appropriate for them. With these articles we read and learn about topics from geography and government to economics and financial literacy. These magazines are a wonderful way to integrate math and science into literacy. Not to mention, students can take them home to read with their families afterwards. Please help bring the real world into our classroom!
