The books I have chosen will be a wonderful start in helping me build a rich classroom library. This is my first year teaching and I have been chosen with the important responsibility of inspiring the love of reading to 25 special 4th graders! The books I have chosen will allow my students to have immediate and frequent access to books in their very own classroom. I have selected a variety of books that will engage students and promote a diverse reading experience. Students will be able to learn and be inspired by significant historical figures while reading books from the "Who Was" biography series. My 4th graders will spend time learning about resilience and strength with books from the "I Survived" book set. Students will laugh their way through reading with the "Bad Guys" graphic novel books, and learn about important themes such as, growth, friendship, and conflict with the variety of picture books that have been selected. Reading books that promote diversity and inclusion, resilience and strength, and teach about empathy and kindness is so important. I'm so excited for my students to grow their love of reading and helping them to attain greater levels of reading achievement!
