"Evolving the classroom space to meet students' individual needs impacts how they learn, how they interact, and the entire classroom experience." -Edutopia.com I have currently invested over $400 in yoga balls, mats, pillows, chairs, and bed risers for stand up desks, and they have been one of the best investments I could make as a part of my teaching practice. The students love them. The problem is that I don't have enough appropriate options. Over the past 9 weeks, these students have respected our rules for alternative seating, and I have noticed a positive shift in their behavior and their grades. Giving students a choice about how they learn along with providing comfortable choices that will help the students be successful with learning is key. It has been pivotal in creating a collaborative learning space, and I am eager to complete it.
