The materials I am requesting for my students will provide them with support on their journey to develop their vocabulary throughout the year. The vocabulary journals will keep them organized as we delve into new words each and every day, expanding on what they already know and adding new words all the time. The close reading journals will allow my students to put their new vocabulary into practice through written response. Once my students begin to broaden their vocabularies, the pocket chart displaying new words will be a permanent fixture in our classroom to track progress. These materials will allow students to work in all configurations (whole class, small group, pairs, etc). The mix and sort vocabulary practice will target all students, especially the struggling learners. It is my goal that with these materials my students vocabulary skills develop and make them successful in both reading and writing.
