I have been introducing the phonics stations as we learn about the related skills in our ELA program. What I especially love about the stations is that each comes with a sandwich board that clearly sequences the directions for using the materials. \r\nThere is also an answer key which I tell the students to use after they've completed a task independently. \r\nI cannot wait for the next phonics lesson in which I can use another station! The activities are short and allows the students enough time to complete them within our learning window. I have found that completing the daily activity as part of their \"morning work\" is a great way to \"wake up\" their brains and give a strong start to all the learning we do each and every day.\r\n\r\nHow do the students feel about using the journal? The majority of the students enjoy the activities in the journal and feel successful completing the problems. One memorable project involved small groups designing and building bridges and towers using the magnetic blocks and construction sets. Students' eyes lit up as they explored the different building pieces, and many immediately began brainstorming ideas for inventions, structures, and machines they could create.
