My students do not get to experience the comforts many of us take for granted, but through books they can be anyone they choose, go anywhere they choose, or learn new things about subjects. My school has been designated a Title One school by the federal government, and both a Renaissance school and a Power Three school by Hillsborough county. These titles are proof of the genuine need of my students. Over 96% of Oak Park students are on free lunch. Many of our students are considered homeless because they live in local motels. After analyzing last year's test scores, we determined a need to ensure the higher level students are making yearly gains. The program I am initiating through fulfillment of this request will focus on the higher level students in fourth grade. The third and fifth graders will also be able to use the books.
