I teach 30 first graders in low-income area outside of Los Angeles, Ca. We are a STEM prep school that focuses on science, math, engineering, and mathematics. Many of my students come from homes where English is a second language; parents cannot speak or read English, therefore little help is offered at home. I am so proud of my students! All of them come from modest means. Many come from broken homes or have other problems that detract from their education. Despite their troubles, they come to school, ready to learn, and happy to be given the opportunity to get an education. My goal is to encourage and teach my students to become lifelong learners! The love of reading, math and science starts here and will following them throughout their lives. My students are future scientists, engineers, teachers, and doctors! With hard work and dedication, they can do anything they choose to do!
