Having flexible seating in our classroom will allow my students to choose where and how they want to work. Giving them the option to move freely about the room and make a number of different seating choices that best suites their needs and mood. Students who are given the choice of where and how they work are more engaged. The stools will allow my students to wiggle and be active, while still being seated. I plan to place them around a large communicative table, giving it a "family meal" style feel. The circular adjustable table will allow students the option to stand and collaborate with with their peers. I have found over the years that giving students these choices (sitting, standing, lying down on the floor...ect) improves their engagement and productivity and allows them a voice and choice in their learning atmosphere.
