With a global crisis in energy, getting students excited about alternative energy will be crucial in our efforts to discover new sources of energy. I have transitioned from being a chemist in the alternative fuel industry to teaching high school chemistry. I hope to make a larger impact on our global energy needs by teaching our youth to appreciate alternative energy, hopefully creating a generation of energy pioneers. My students are primarily minority, low income residents of a large city in California. They hope to break their cultural barriers by attending college and obtaining high paying careers. I hope to give them an edge by training them in alternative energy.
