Inside my classroom on the South Side of Chicago, juniors and seniors take on Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Pathway Mathematics with focus and determination. Many of my students are striving to become first-generation college students, and they understand that strong math skills open doors to opportunity. Their hard work is paying off. This year, my students averaged 30 points of growth on the STAR Math exam, beating the expected yearly growth by midyear. That success reflects a classroom culture built on high expectations, persistence, and belief in what they can achieve. My goal is to prepare every student for the ACT so they can confidently pursue the college of their choice. With the right resources, I can continue helping my students turn effort into achievement and future success.
