My students attend a large inner city school with 99% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch. The majority of our students are either African-American or of Hispanic origin. Families in our school are struggling on a daily basis and many parents and guardians are not able to be home to read with their children. I want my students to go home and independently pick up a book to read because that is what they love to do.
