I teach the most wonderful group of lively 4 year olds. They are enthusiastic and have an eagerness to learn. They live in the outskirts of town, surrounded by farm land and have to drive at least 20 minutes to get to the nearest big chain grocery store or hospital. The school district we belong to has 90% of the families living below the poverty line. These families do the best they can and our district is small, so we make do with what we can. These families might not have money, but they have heart. Our school community is wonderful, our parents are active and we do what we can to support each other. I have parents who can barely afford clothes, but will always ask me what they can do to help out in their child's classroom.
