My students are extremely motivated and have not been given many opportunities in their low income school system. My 85 sixth grade students are learning about how they can participate in the government at a young age. My students are taking accountability for their learning with little support or funding behind them. I want to give my students the opportunity in school to create fun projects while learning at the same time. The school I work in is a NEW school in NYC. We are at our first year and already doing great things. The school has very little funding because we are new and still want to provide opportunity for project based learning. PROJECT CITIZEN aligns with our vision of 'high school college and career ready, civic engagement, and critical thinking'. A majority of my students cannot afford basic school supplies and I have put in a lot of funding of my own to give my students the opportunity of the education they deserve. Please help our future be involved in civics!
