Two-thirds of my students are 3rd graders and the other third are 4th graders. They are responsible, respectful, and excited to share what they learn. The parents are involved in their students' learning and want to see them be successful. About 50% of them are English Language Learners. Because many of them come from Spanish speaking homes, most of the support in schoolwork needs to take place in the classroom. A large number of them also attend the after school program and so they have long days at school. They've had an unstable start to the year, having had four different substitute teachers over the course of the first two months. I just started with them and am excited to see their growth over the remainder of the year as their permanent classroom teacher. They were eager to meet me and we are looking forward to working together to create a comfortable learning environment.
