My awesome First graders are curious about the world. They want to have their hands on materials to gain tactical experience with the things that they are reading about as they emerge to literacy. The STEM Investigation and Literacy Center will allow my classroom volunteers to engage students with science investigation using technology as a way to enrich and encourage students to develop literacy through high interest leveled reading. Each pieces of the STEM Investigation and Literacy Center will work to improve student growth. The headphones will allow students to engage with phonics using audio in our busy and active classroom. The tablets, with magnifiers and microscope cameras, will allow students to investigate scientific samples and the easel will allow them to express their discoveries in large scale! With the laminator, I will be able to create durable learning resources and games to engage thee young learners. The STEM resources will scaffold learning which will propel student interest into the leveled reading books, in addition to providing opportunities for extension to high achieving students.
