We continuously use that extra whiteboard as another spot when doing group work. This whiteboard helps our classroom flow because now we have space to show our thinking and our learning. \r\n It is amazing how much fun the students have been having while doing thinking tasks, not only in math, but for reading, phonics, rules, and social studies. They're eager to use the whiteboard space and work together.\r\n The post-it sticky pads and chart paper are used for every subject that you can imagine. It just makes it easy to stick around the classroom. We've been using them a lot for classroom expectations as it is the beginning of the year, but we will continue using them for GLAD instruction and more. \r\n These resources will continue to be a staple in the classroom and my students and I are extremely grateful for all the donations to complete this project. Thank you so much!","fullyFundedDate":1782168279468,"projectUrl":"project/building-thinkers-one-whiteboard-at-a-t/10346958/","projectTitle":"Building Thinkers, One Whiteboard at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Olivares","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8007146_orig.png?crop=812,812,x0,y219&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629788446446","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8007146"},{"teacherId":8007146,"projectId":10379583,"letterContent":"The moment my students walked in and saw our new carpet, they screamed with excitement. Some students said, \"It's so beautiful!\" It truly helped transform the way our classroom feels and looks.\r\n During the first week of school, I had a couple students share how I should buy some spots for the carpet so that every person had one to sit on. I told them that I was looking into a carpet that had some circles, so that idea was very similar to what they were thinking. \r\n This carpet is used during our community circles, our phonics lesson, math lessons, and even read alouds. It not only adds beauty into the classroom, but it adds structure and place. \r\n I know that this carpet will continue to make an impact throughout the school year and the years of teaching to come. \r\n I also want to add that the electric pencil sharpener has changed the game. Only one student will have the job to sharpen the dull pencils at the end of the day and students are able to retrieve the sharp pencils from a pencil robot container that I have. This makes our classroom runs smoother because the sharpener is quick and easy.\r\n Thank you again, to each one of you who made this project complete. My students and I are incredibly grateful for the sensory toys and emotional support materials you so generously donated, especially the Plushy Spots Emotions set. These resources have already become an essential part of our daily routine, and their impact has been both immediate and meaningful.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new resources in many ways throughout the school day. During morning meetings, students choose a Plushy Spot that represents how they are feeling and place it next to them as we begin our day. This simple activity has opened the door to powerful conversations about emotions, empathy, and self-awareness. The sensory toys are available in our calm-down corner, where students can go when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or need a moment to regulate their emotions.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. Their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity as they explored the different emotions represented on the Plushy Spots.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these resources will continue to support our lessons on kindness, communication, and problem-solving. The sensory toys and emotional supports will remain a safe and trusted part of our classroom environment, helping students feel secure, understood, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and supporting not only their academic success but also their emotional well-being. Your kindness has made a lasting difference, and we are truly thankful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1762266355074,"projectUrl":"project/the-research-corner/9515789/","projectTitle":"The research corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Correa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9835865_orig.jpg?crop=1808,1808,x0,y235&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732774507960","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9835865"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36172","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":627,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":91,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"23.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.8,"schoolId":36172,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lilian J Rice Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lilian J Rice Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/chula-vista-elementary-school-district/lilian-j-rice-elementary-school/36172"}
