Currently, our media center has few nonfiction books for our students to utilize. We are in need of books that assist with teaching students how to conduct research and biographies of historical and current individuals. I want to purchase nonfiction books and have them available for all students in my school. Do we have any books about this person? This is something I hear weekly from students when they visit the media center. Many times I have to tell them no and see the disappointment on their faces. Our students are not familiar with important individuals, past and present, in our world. Nonfiction books give them the exposure they need. By providing these books to our students, my desire is to assist students with classroom projects and to increase their knowledge about influential individuals. Some of these individuals have overcome great obstacles in their lives which I believe will encourage our students to push themselves to accomplish their goals.
