Donations to this project will help motivate my reluctant readers to give reading another chance. It is essential that students have a choice in selecting reading materials and that they have access to high interest materials. They are more likely to give a book a chance if they have heard people talking about it or if they have seen the movie. The materials requested for this project are the most popular novels for young adults. Once they open a book and start reading, they will realize they CAN DO THIS and it CAN BE FUN! Once students experience that success and enjoyment from a novel, they are on the path to becoming lifelong readers. If a student likes the first book in a series, I can recommend the other books that follow in order to keep up their momentum.
