As the Community School Coordinator, I have the unique privilege of serving every student on our TK–5 campus rather than one traditional classroom. I lead weekly schoolwide assemblies, mentor students through our Leader in Me Lighthouse Team, work with GATE students, support children during recess and lunch, and welcome our youngest learners by opening and closing the gates for TK and kindergarten families. I also coordinate student volunteers from our neighboring middle school and create family events that connect learning, leadership, and community. Because I interact with students throughout the school day and across grade levels, I get to know their interests, strengths, and needs. My “class” is truly our whole school community: curious young learners, emerging student leaders, supportive families, and older student mentors working together to help every child feel connected, capable, and excited to learn.
