We are a K-2 school library in need of an updated book collection that can serve our young readers! Our current collection has an average reading level of 3rd grade which is above 90% of our students. The average age of our non-fiction section is 1993 and 66% of the books are considered "aged," containing out of date information. To give perspective from my students point of view, most of the books are 25 years old, which is ancient to a 6 or 7 year old! Our students are eager to read and learn! As a low income district, with a high rental population, most of our students do not have a "library" at home, so the school library is key to building literacy and making steps to turn our students into life-long learners!
