Over the past year and a half, my middle school students have learned to use technology in a variety of ways while learning from home. Now that we are all back in school in person, I would love to increase the use of technology in the art room and let students utilize the skills that they have acquired in new and exciting ways. With my 8th grade illustration students, they will use the iPads to create stop-motion animation videos, using the iPad app "Stop Motion Studio" to capture their image frames. Using their still images, they will put them together to create animated sequences. In addition to stop-motion animation, both 7th and 8th graders will use the iPads to take high-quality photos of their completed artwork. Since students are not allowed to have their cell phones during the school day, the iPads will allow students the opportunity to learn how to effectively take a photograph of their artwork and upload it to Artsonia, where their hard work can be seen by family members and friends. The iPad cases will ensure that the iPads stay protected for all 225 of my students to use, and the Apple Pencil will help students to edit their animation on the smaller iPad Mini screen.
