My first graders attend a Title I school in Washington, DC. The school is not very diverse and is in a low-income and dangerous neighborhood. A rich history surrounds them, however they do not often get the chance to explore it. For some of them, school is a where they spend twelve hours of their day everyday and is the safest place for them to be. My students are lively, eager to learn and super loving. They spend hours questioning concepts, asking "why?", and generating "what-ifs." They love to do projects and hands-on activities.
