Reading is a physical experience. I want my students to be able to read the words on a page, interact with the text, write in margins, and connect with the words. You can't do that without a book in your hand. At this point, I am a few copies short of a full class set of the novel The Great Gatsby. I have created this project so that I can have a full classroom set and my students can successfully read the novel, do the literary analysis, and prepare to write the Cambridge required coursework. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Reading on a device just isn't the same as holding a book in your hand, and spending hours in front of the copier using up reams of paper on copies of the book isn't the best use of my time or school resources. A copy of the novel in every student's hand is my goal. As a Cambridge Literature classroom, is it expected and essential that I have the novel readily available to my students for them to learn and study from.
