I conduct my K-2 physical education class inside a basement classroom. We only have 3 small windows that open roughly 6 -10 inches, depending on the window and we are at a basement level smushed between high rise buildings. The air quality in this room is not as safe as it should be. We have 2 industrial fans on the floor, with beams in the middle of the floor, which adds to our obstacles when moving around the room. These fans are also very unsafe, as kids love touching them no matter what, and I wouldn't want them to crash into them. They could really get hurt. Unfortunately, the DOE thinks this classroom is safe enough for a class of little ones to run around safely. We really need some window fans so that we can get the air out of the room, instead of circulating it with the current fans in place. For everyone's safety in this school, the HEPA air filters would really help purify the air in this stuffy basement classroom, especially since k-2 kids will likely not adhere to all COVID safety precautions. Please help save us!
