This year we will be tackling the PATHS curriculum based on the Engage NY curriculum, which will allow my students and I to encounter a number of diverse cultures, characters, and experiences through literature and non-fiction pieces. After doing a lot of PD on google classrooms and digital learning, I have been pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback and statistics surrounding teachers who have been able to implement a digital classroom. Engagement is up, reading/writing scores are up, self-accountability is up, and collaboration is actually welcomed by students. Our district initiative is for every student to READ, THINK, WRITE, & TALK every day in every class, and what I have seen with the use of google classroom within a digital learning environment is that these areas effectively and organically foster a new love of learning. The problem with being in the area we are, money is a substantial issue and resources are very limited. The only possible way for such an opportunity to exist within the four walls of my ELA classroom is with your help. Donations to make this happen will literally change the lives of my students in ways so impactful it makes my heart happy to even imagine.
